I Do What I Want - 2021

This piece became one of my favorites completely by accident. It began as a simple Drawing I assignment — we were told to test out our charcoals by making different markings. There were no rules, no expectations, just exploration.

Somewhere between smudging, erasing, and experimenting, something unexpected started to take shape. It didn’t follow any of the “techniques” we’d been taught, but it felt honest — impulsive, even a little rebellious.

That’s how I Do What I Want was born. It reminded me that art doesn’t always come from planning or precision; sometimes it comes from letting go, from breaking the structure you thought you had to follow.
